FoodForest product Value Chains

The Training of Trainers (ToT) at LIMBU Group company created a powerful space for practical learning, to understand traceability farming and Circular economy value chain connecting markets to farmer livelihoods.

One of the most valuable inspiring sessions for Dreamnature was “Participant Introductions and History of Limbua,” presented by Abigail Birech Operations & Marketing of LIMBUA Deutschland GmbH / LIMBUA Group Limited, that combines certified organic agriculture, its own processing facilities and long-term partnerships with smallholder farmers in Kenya. The session on Understanding Value Chains, facilitated by Boniface Mutua Operations Manager, further connected these lessons to the economics of agricultural production. Learning about Limbua's development and its approach to working with farmers gave us a practical perspective on what organized agricultural value chains can become, farmers and businesses connected. The learning continued through a field tour across the value chain from production on farms, drying and storage, processing and packaging to export. With more than 9,000 registered farmers, individual farm records, everythic recycled and more than 2,000 young people engaged across the value chain, the experience offered important lessons for Dreamnature as we work to strengthen systems that connect farmers with productive agroforestry system. Dreamnature also contributed to the training. Asmin Ismail, CEO of Dreamnature, co-facilitated the Biodynamic Introduction session with Joel from Uganda. Aron Katosho co-facilitated Introduction to Agroforestry Systems with Thiong'o Gachie from Kenya, where Syntropic Agroforestry its principles were shared as productive and regenerative farming systems. The ToT also provided hands-on learning in Biodynamic Preparations 500–506, including the preparation of horn manure and horn silica, alongside sessions on biodynamic composting, pest and disease management, farm economics, financial management, standards and processing. These exchanges are connected to strengthening the Native Tree Seed System of Dreamnature Organization as a foundation for people and nature ecosystem. The Kenya experience has new perspectives to our work around socio entrepreneurship, value-chain development, farmer organization, and practical regenerative farming techniques. The future is in connecting that knowledge, learning from what works across contexts, and building stronger systems together.
