A Food Forest for Us

Dreamnature estbalish Multi-strata food forest living lab with various stakeholder partners such as Government institutions, Donors and Local commuties. This project strengthen community knowledge and technical practical capacity on establishing multi-strata food forest farming systems that mimic natural ecosystems, enhancing sustainable livelihoods, soil healthy and climate resilience. Intergrates food and cash crops with native trees, these trees are intentionally integrated based on their complementary ecological and livelihood roles. Some native species contribute directly to food security, health, and herbal products, strengthening household nutrition and traditional medicine systems. Others enhance overall farm performance by producing high biomass serving as “mother trees” that support chop-and-drop practices to improve soil organic matter, and regulate microclimates. Collectively, these functions enhance agricultural productivity, particularly for cash crops and other high-demand crops, while maintaining ecosystem balance and long-term resilience.

By February 2026, this  project has been scaled in Morogoro municial (demoplot at SIDO Industrial area and at Sokoine University of Agriculture) in support from APOPO international organization.  Then Mvomero district supported by Stop the Desert and Landt Foundation and the villages of Ulanga district with a funding support from PELUM  Tanzania, and Global Youth Mobilization. Have reached 1730 training partcipants, established 8 demostration plots (one in each village) with a total of planted 1,816 trees within multi-strata food forest farms counting biomass trees and cash crops.
